I can’t decide

What to write about first! So, here is what I’m doing at this moment;

I’m trying to lighten the yellowing trim of this 1979 Mattel Starr romper using a baking soda paste, carefully avoiding the metallic bits.

I just removed the baking soda I applied with a wet qtip after letting it sit for ten minutes. Does it look any whiter?

No. No, it does not. Was the trim originally that colour? The shoulder straps are very similar, but haven’t yellowed much.

Yes, I am noticing this stuff in realtime 😅

Found this on Etsy and it doesn’t look to have changed colour;

The frick. I’m not sure whether I want to keep trying or just get a replacement. The yellow did not lift even a little. The belt trim looks kinda different now, and not in a great way…

Really though, since I started collecting (late last year) and attempting to properly clean and repair doll clothes (a few days ago haha) I’ve had more hits than misses. I’ve cleaned up a few Superstar outfits and I’m really proud of myself for not ruining them and removing the stains 😬

I have a ton of amateurish doll photography to post but I don’t know where to start! My “setup” is embarassing.

See?!

I’m trying to find something better. The bar is low.
