Just got a nude 1990 United Colours of Benneton Christie for $12 on Mercari. She is in very good condition! Her legs are super shiny though, I think that’s because the vinyl is breaking down. I could be wrong. I didn’t search for anything, she was just on my home page. Even though I’ve never seen a picture of this Christie, I knew instantly she might be a United Colours doll because of her beautiful orange eyes. Those eyes are really distinct and I think that sets that series apart from the rest. I checked to see if I was right about something for once and indeed I was. She’s a beautiful doll. My ultimate want from that series is Theresa. I want them all, but Theresa is particularly pretty. Besides the eyes, she has steffy face and that combo is just…wow. I also want to find Barbie and Kira! The faces in the 1990 Benneton dolls are just so striking and different.

I’m looking at more cheap Beauty Queen Barbies. I do not want to switch wigs on the one I have. I love it too much. I have two other wigs, one of which is a beautiful ginger flip, but the blonde one that came with her…I don’t know how to fix that crusty, dusty mess. I’m not sure which style it’s supposed to be, but I’m leaning toward bubble cut. Beauty Queen herself was something like $35, which shocked me a bit. She’s in good condition, just has some tiny black specks on her face. A teensy bit of the paint on her molded hair has rubbed off since 1963, which isn’t a big deal. I’ll have to break out the toothbrush which I’m always afraid to use on a face.

Anyhoo, I’ve found several more of these in the $35 range on Mercari. I don’t get why Beauty Queen is so undervalued, but I’m certainly not complaining…
